I didn't like the Bencher paddles either so I drilled out the rivets and shaped two thin oval shaped plastic paddles out of smooth bright red poker chips. Sandpapered the edges to round them off. I shaped them to look like Brown Brothers paddles if you are familiar with those. Put them on with number 4 screws/nuts.
