I think either the Omni VI or the Jupiter would be an excellent choice. The major advantage I see to the Jupiter in this setup would be the general coverage receiver. The radio could be used for SW or MW listening. MW DXing and SW listening were how I got interested in radio. If you use an external speaker with the Jupiter make sure that neither side of the speaker is grounded or use some sort of isolation. The manual cautions that the speaker can't be grounded and I know of at least one ham (N0KHQ) who had to send his Jupiter in for repair because of it. 73, Mark |
