Hello All -
I'm still working on the panel and button overlays - My supplier told me he just about has the panel overlay perfectly matched to the panel I gave him to size everything. I'm anxious to see how it all turns out. For now , I have used dry transfers on the panel and moved the buttons. I'll keep everyone posted.

Okay I'll bite!

I am a fairly casual operator working some CW and mostly SSB. I chase DX,
rag chew and spend a lot of time listening.

I have had the N4PY Omni V.9 upgrade for almost 5 years and LOVE it. It
provides the rig with direct keyboard entry of frequencies, band stacking
registers and a real CI-V serial port plus more.

My main reason for the mod was the serial port - all the rest was a bonus.
I have the rig tied into Logger32 and it works very well. (I found that the
stock Omni V does not work well with most logging software.) If you're
interested in all the features look at:

http://www3.telus.net/ve7tk/omni_V9.pdf

On the down side. You lose the WWV beeper - sigh!!! - and the voice board
function if you have one. The down side (and it doesn't impact my CW - I
wish) is if you operate CW at or above 35 wpm. Apparently the CPU just
isn't fast enough.

Would I go back to the stock CPU. Simple answer is NO. If I sell the rig
I, of course, have the stock CPU if needed.

As for the buttons. Well I was likely the first to ask for buttons after
Carl and the factory provided the Enter, Shift and Clear without a problem.
Others have developed labels that go directly over the existing keys. A
search of the Archives should give you some examples and perhaps contacts.

Good luck.

I am debating if I should made the mod changes to my Omni V which I
purchased
used a few weeks ago. Does this mod make that much of a difference in it's
day
to day operation, is it something I can't live without? I did purchase the
CPU
upgrade and I guess a little push from someone who has implemented this
change
is what I need.

I want to keep the rig looking like a factory unit so I was wondering if
someone would know how to get hold of the new push buttons required for the
mod, "Enter", "Shift" and "Clear". I called Ten Tec and they don't have any.

Thanks ahead of time for your comments and suggestions.
