I use N4PY's software extensively and find the ability
to change the IF parameters from the software's
interface to be extremely useful, as opposed to using
the menu system in the radio.
The other thing I like is that there are 5 AGC choices
plus off, and by inserting various delay's in these 5
choices, and using the RF gain control on the radio
and sliders for threshold and decay on the software,
one has exquisite control over the behavior of the
receiver. I especially like it when doing a lot of
band changing between 160 or 80 and the higher bands.
One thing I wish the software command set had would be
the ability to turn off and on the 250hz cascade
position from a software flag. Maybe in a future
firmware release...
