Could be any number of reasons, for example:

-- The op had an income change (ie job loss or divorce) and could no longer
afford the Orion II.
-- The op's Significant Other hit the roof when the credit card bill
arrived, and intercepted it before the op could hide it.
-- The Orion II was perceived to be more complicated than the op could
handle.
-- The op couldn't figure out how to read a manual that wasn't a translation
from another language.
-- The op is a firm QRP op and didn't want to be tempted to run the Orion II
QRO.
-- The op couldn't believe that the rig was Made in USA.
-- OK, the op could believe it was Made in USA, but can't stand country
music, especially anything to do with Dolly Parton.
-- The rig didn't physically fit in the shack.
-- The op's other rigs were afraid of the Orion II
-- The rig's color clashed with the shack color scheme.
-- The op really preferred a monochrome screen like the Orion had, rather
than the O2's color screen.
-- The op's computer only had USB ports and s/he couldn't figure out how to
interface the serial port.
-- The op was just handed a brand new rig by some other person, so s/he
didn't need to buy one.
-- The op has a numbers-related phobia, and part of the rig's serial number
set the phobia off.
-- The op just wanted to brag on eHam that he'd tried it and didn't like it
so that he could make or continue to make snide remarks about Ten-Tec and/or
the Ten-Tec cult.
-- The op was a big fan of the "Men in Black" movie, and was disappointed
that s/he couldn't find the strap that goes around the rig... you know,
Orion's Belt...
-- (Fill in your own silly reason here, as I'm sure some of you will...)

Taking tongue firmly out of cheek now,

73, ron wn3vaw

It does make you wonder who / why the rig was rejected.
