I'm more inclined to think Bob is right. the keying is done by one side of
the cable going to ground potential. i don't think it is a shielding issue
and i operate almost 100% below 10 MHz so I think that rules out the 1/4 w.
idea and everything was well grounded -- large straps to s.p.g. and 6 foot
strap to 5 rods outside. Also seems to me that common mode rf would have
to be some nasty amount of rf to botch up a switching circuit.

radio shack audio cable was poorly shielded and/or some multiple of a
1/4 wavelength of his operating frequency making it much more
susceptable to rf feedback. a good station grounding system would help
