Care to share your settings?

I tried running a frequency response test last night, and determined that there is no way to measure it on the O2 since, even at low levels of input it "hunts" for the signal and the output jumps up and down. This may actually be a good thing for normal speech operating conditions, and this I know from broadcasting that you absolutely cannot do a frequency response test on a system without shutting down all devices in the chain that can dynamically effect the level. TT may have designed some noise gate or level "hold" function similar to what broadcast stations use which would make the rig sound much better. But broadcast processors have a "proof" switch on them that defeats all functions for testing, and that's not available on the O2.

Next best thing is a pink-noise generator and an audio spectrum analyzer hooked to a receiver with a known flat response. If I had a spare $25,000 laying around, I could do that :-)

I have received nothing but compliments on my tx audio using Orion II and Studio One mike. As with almost everything else with the Orion II, it takes some study and care setting it up. I plugged a cassette recorder into the monitor output and went through numerous settings of TxEQ, Low Freq Cutoff and Speech Processing stating into the microphone what each setting was while transmitting into a dummy load. I then played the recorder back through my home stereo with no sound (base or treble) enhancement and selected the one that sounded the most natural for those 75 meter rag chews, the most piercing and penetrating for dx pileups, etc. I got the XYL to also verify the "natural" sound.

Just a suggestion on what worked for me.

Maybe they need to bring Doug Smith, KF6DX back for a consult.

Well, that's unfortunate, as I think they did a superb job in early
testing.
Really taking the place of a department for TT.

Now TT is going to have to do a lot better on there own in QC and
regression
test and analysis. So far not so good IMHO.

I'm still rooting for them, but ?????
Maybe they need additional help with the programming (outside help)?

Seems like more people are happier with the version 2 for Orion than OII
right now.
You would think the code (logic) would be the same with the exeption of
drivers for the screen and maybe some differences in the filter chain.

I vote for going back to 1.xxx for OII and improving from there... I
know...
too late!
