You can load in a previous version of the software, I did it on my O 1 I
prefer 1.372 so after it tried the ver 2 I went back to the old one. just a
master reset, reload, and all the older versions are available on line
somewhere. I don't know about all the stories being bantered about on the
reflector, but there is a small core of very critical folks here ( 6 or 8
folks) who
continually post and repost the few things that need work on the Orion and
Orion II.
If you have a question, please call the folks at Ten Tec. If I had believed
all the "information" on the Ten Tec reflector I would not have bought this
fine rig. it works very well for me and I am amazed by its capability. the
complaints here on the Ten Tec reflector are mostly about small problems
that will most likely be fixed in future versions of soft ware. Its like
buying a brand new car and complaining the ash tray is not the right size.. I
love
mine and it works very well. Bye the way this is the TEN TEC reflector,
not just the Orion reflector..
I may be one of the not so silent majority that actually enjoys the Orion..

Are the old versions from ten tec forever lost when you update? Can you
reinstall say the first version that
came with an orion 1 on an orion 2. This may seem a dumb question but I'm
not computer savvy.
Also I have read that the only version with acceptable audio transmit width
for ssb with any fidelity is the
original orion with the first firmware - true ?
If all I can get with an orion 2 is firmware with severe rolloff at 200Hz -
and nothing you can do about
it - then I know I don't want an orion 2.
