My Omni VI has a temperature-controlled oven for crystal oscillator stability. I believe that on later models TT used a TCXO for better stability / shorter warm-up time. I know that I can leave my oven powered up if I want to avoid the warm-up delay, but I would prefer not to have to. Does anyone know how easy it would be to upgrade to a TCXO? The cost of a return to TT doesn't warrant the improvement to me, but I wondered if it was something the competent ham could do at home? 73, Steve G3TXQ |
