Duane, the Ameritron 704 is a protection device that a lot of Icom users put
in between the radio and amp to protect the relay in the radio. I guess a
lot of failures of Icom relays occurred when the rigs first came out. There
are several different companies that make these now. Some guys have ran
years without them, others have had problems.
