I also experience somewhat distorted audio in the headphones when transmitting SSB. This happens when I have the beam pointed over my house. The tower is 100 feet in back of the house. The distortion gets worse if I talk while holding the TT 706 mic. I tried all the normal grounding arrangements. This never happened with my Icom ProII. It is what it is! I live with it.
