Never had a problem with the Orion power connector (on three different
radios) -- no intermittents, no burn marks, no flickering. So it isn't
necessarily true that the Orion power connector is somehow inherently "bad".
I certainly believe that if heavy cable is used (and it should be, I use #8,
very short), and you stress the connection time and time again, you are
bound to have a problem eventually.

So perhaps there's some other contributing factor. Why is the connection
under apparently heavy stress? Perhaps addressing that issue would solve the
problem? I'm not saying it might not be better to have big lugs on the
radio, but there may be something else that's contributing to your connector
problem.
