Hi Lou,

I don't have the information you need. Seems strange that you have "the instructions" and do not have the transistor part numbers.

I have had a similar situation with my Hercules II amplifier. The bias regulation transistors are shown on the bias control board schematic, however they are not mounted on that board. They are mounted on the chassis. Since they are not soldered to or mounted on the PCB, they are not included in the parts list for that schematic page. That is fair enough, except they are also not included in any parts list for the chassis either.

I only found replacements by cross referencing the numbers on the transistors.

Good luck!

All,

So I took the cover off and was probing around checking connections.
I took the following data on voltages on the controller board at each
transistor per the instructions. Mode 3 in the VFO position.

Transistor | Collector | Base | Emitter |
               | T | R | T | R | T | R |
===============+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+
Q1 | 0.37 | 13.78 | 0.8 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Q2 | 13.70 | 0.044 | 0.037 | 0.74 | 0 | 0 |
Q3 | 13.70 | 13.80 | 13.7 | 13.8 | .221 | 0 |
Q4 | 13.71 | 13.80 | 0.037 | 11.7 | 11.08 | 0 |
Q5 | 0 | 11.09 | 0 | 5.06 | 0 | 4.33 |
Q6 | 0 | 0.021 | 0 | -.035 | 0 | 3.72 |
---------------------------------------------------------------+

It appears as if Some of the Transistors are bad on the Control board.

Anyone have any part numbers for replacements??

Thanks

Lou

Hi Carl and the group.
I'm the guy that sold the VFO to Lu.
My brain was not in gear and I thought he was setting up a 544
and not a 244 digital readout. I was very disappointed to see his
post yesterday. I had a document sheet from TT "Service Note SN-1-540" that
I should have sent along; I did last night and hopefully that will
resolve the problem. There are some jumper modifications on the
244 plug needed. It also covers the 240,241 in addition to the 242,
244 hook up.

If anyone needs this three page document It's available from me
in .pdf form. Not the best quality but understandable. Ask and you
shall receive. Also wonder if there is a corresponding sheet for the 244? I don't
need it but would like to add to my manual file just in case.

I recall the early Triton IV's needed an internal mod to work with the
remote VFO. Ten-Tec should have that information. If not, I could probably dig it up for you. Carl, K4SEV.
