The 756 Pro scopes work great...better than the old Heath and Kenwood ones. In fact, a nice feature....if you see a low, open/dead spot on the band, you can put a marker there. Now, just tune the rig 'till the marker is centered....and you're there!!! Works out extra well on 6 meters. You see a quick blip or tune up? Put a marker there, tune to that spot....and wait for the guy to transmit again. Or yell a quick "QRZ?" and perhaps make a contact. On a usually dead band like 6, that would be impossible with any other 6 meter rig!

Yep, I had the Heath pan adapter band scope thing, too

for a while. A real band scope like Heath and Kenwood

are a huge help in finding a hole when changing to a new band

in a contest..... so I miss these oldies but goodies....

Today u just get some jagged lines up from the bottom

of the display, more like a mountain scene. 73

The SM-220/230 scope sounds very much like the Heathkit Pan-adapter, from
back in the 60's.
Had one on my 2 meter rig (AM). Since most of us were crystal controlled,
it made finding a reply to a CQ very easy.
Not having a chance to use a band scope on HF (other than the one on my
O7) I am not sure have helpful it would be.

Old memories...

Having bought a TS-950sdx specifically to use the matching

SM-220 or SM-230 scope, I know what a real time, actual

trace bandscope looks like. It is so much better and more

handy than any of the things offered today, including K3,

ORION, and 9000 because , among other reasons, the 950

system did not stop scanning when u tuned but u could

actually see you move toward a sig pip in uninterrupted

real time. Unfortunately, the SM-230 had to be hooked

to a TS-950, so I sold the whole system.
