First, I'd say the Ultra Low ESR caps are likely overkill. As to the buzz,
does it exist with the volume control all the way down? If so it is likely
power supply induced otherwise, likely from the IF chain or product
detector.
I'd find the source of the noise using an oscilloscope to trace the source.
I've always thought it a bit helter skelter just to start replacing parts
without knowing if a part is specifically at fault. I've found too many new
parts that are actually defective and when introduced into a circuit then
leaves a person with the original problem and a new problem to correct. I
always reserve the "shotgun" approach to bird hunting unless your name is
Dick Chaney.

Subject: [TenTec] Corsair II buzz
I've got a Corsair II I'm planning on recapping with Ultra Low ESR
electrolytics. There's a high pitched buzz I can hear which is
distracting somewhat but is mostly absent when the narrow filters are
engaged.
It was there when I sent it to the factory for repair several years
ago and they found no problems but I notice it and it was not there
on my Omni and is not there on my other radio (not a Corsair).
Any suggestions of which board I might start replacing the caps on to
eliminate this noise?
Thanks!
