Lots of the original 4 crystal filters were replaced by 8 crystal filters to have better skirt selectivity and signal rejection out of the passband.

I also have a 4-pole filter labeled 8233.
I "think" I pulled it from my Argosy 15 years ago and replaced it with an
8-pole but can't really remember for sure.
I too would like to find out what this filter is.

Ken;

I believe there are 4 crystals on what appears to be the standard filter
board. The 217 is on the AF/IF board and is switch selectable. This is
getting the output from the RX mixer which is then fed into the IF/AF
board and the receive filter if selected. The 8122 filter is also the
input to the TX mixer. Interestingly, on the board picture in the
manual, the filter is numbered as a 8117. Serial no. is 00042 so things
change.

Hi John,

My best guess is that a leading "4" is missing from that number and the
filter is really a 48122. That would fit into Ten-Tec's filter stock
number scheme. Based on the other stock numbers beginning with "481" I
would guess it is a 9 MHz filter.

If you get any more definitive information on that filter, please pass
it on to me, so I can improve my filter list. Could you tell me how many
crystals are in the filter?

Thanks,

My Argosy has a 8122 filter on the RF/Mixer board and the expected 217
on the IF/AF board. What is the 8122 and is that the stock filter? Is
there a better choice given that I work both SSB and CW with the radio?
