Well the best "recent" document I have read was "HF Receiver Dynamic Range:
How much do we Need?", by Peter E. Chadwick, G3RZP, and published in QEX,
May/June 2002.

"We often discuss how good receivers are. Let's look at how good they need
to be."

I suggest anyone who believes the Eagle is too expensive, read this or
something like this.
Maybe you will adjust your opinion afterwards.

In the QST archvies is an article on what the receiver tests mean, check
that out. It is somewhat long to explain on an email. Use the test
nomenclature as key words on ARRL search box.
Like "IMD3 Dynamic Range" in quotation marks.
