Well...intersting and true, IMHO...as well
so here is the deal..

I have the OII...and I love it for many reasons.....
But, if you want a quiet rcvr...get a Drake R-4B, Collins 75s-3, 
Hallicrafters SX-115 or 117 etc...
I have all of the above and I enjoy them all.

The older stuff is just quieter, IMHO.
And the audio is great also.

Seems to me the modern stuff...has a harsher sound..

I enjoy them both.

The NR you are talking about does not exist on any radio.  Still to 
this
day I have never seen an NR that truely helps with copy.  They might
make things quieter but copy is always best under difficult conditions
with NR off.
