John, Some rigs can tolerate up to 3:1 SWR without needing a tuner. Usually, there is lowering of power out in such cases but that may not affect your signal enough to worry.

The G5RV is best on 20 and 40, band extremes beyond this typically need a tuner, but there can be happy coincidence of a fortuitous length of feedline transforming a high SWR at the antenna feed point to a usable value at the rig. But also, be aware your SWR measuring instrument may not be giving you a reliable result if it is operating into something other than 50 ohms, non reactive. Note what jumpers you have in line, and all details in your log book before you change any present connections that are allowing you to operate on this band without a tuner. That way, if you do move equipment, change a cable, etc. you can get back to this optimized hook up.
