Bob and all -

The connection for DC is to an adapter I built to go from Molex to power poles. The battery and the power supply both plugged into the same power poles. Since the battery worked and power supplies with their individual power poles didn't, I passed on bad connections.

The DC input board on the back of the Pegasus is pretty easy to access. With a few contortions it can be moved just outside the chassis case. Since the symptom was at the relay, I started replacing active components in that area. I planned to replace the diode across the coil and the three transistors on the board. The diode was easy. The transistors were more difficult. The hard part was getting the old one out. I started with the one closest to the relay. After replacing that I didn't look forward to the next two, so I thought I would see if what I had completed so far made any difference. It did. The Pegasus now fires up on the power supplies.

I suppose someone with an EE could tell me why I worked with a battery, but not the power supply. It's all a mystery to me. But, I'm back in business so all is well.

Thanks to all for the input.

This then says the cable& connections used for the battery is good and
the cable and connections used for the power supply is likely in need of
attention. Further, I don't view this to be an issue inside the radio.
Carefully check connections to see that they are solid, haven't heated
and lost contact.

Do check to see that the power supply is not folding up when you turn on
the radio. Although I view unlikely, you could have two bad power
supplies. A volt meter check at the power supply terminals and at the
radio AUX connector is certainly warranted in this case.

Bob -

The Pegasus does not switch the power supply. The power supply is on at
all times. The ON/OFF switch on the front of the Pegasus is a two wire
connector labeled "1" that goes to the DC input board that holds the
relay.

I tried the Pegasus with two different power supplies, one switcher and
one linear. It does not work on them, but does work off a battery. I'm
confused.

Thanks for the suggestion.

By chance is the AC supply switched by the power switch on the Pegasus?
If so there 4 wires on the power cable, 2 for DC and 2 for the AC
switching line. If the switch in the radio that controls the AC line
is
defective then the power supply will not turn on, therefore the radio
will not turn on. Clue is that it works on the 12V battery says the
relay and circuit in the radio is OK.

Through various misadventures, the DC input relay on my Pegasus will
not
engage when power is applied, mostly.

I suspect the two transistors or the one diode near the relay coil.
Perhaps this symptom would give one of you a clue to the component(s)
I
should replace.

The DC input relay will not trip and power up the Pegasus using a
regular station 12v power supply. It will trip and power the Pegasus
if
I use a battery for the 12v. I am guessing a grounding issue here,
somehow.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
