Stuart... a serious question here... Will all of that, especially the MESH system, work after a big EMI pulse type incident? If not, what would be the fallback plan?

The local boys set up a similar system, if not the same, and they were really proud of it - they got it up and running quickly and it worked and allowed the transmitters to be scattered all over the property - some nearly a quarter mile apart, while maintaining a single real time logging database.

My only objection to their setup was that the wireless nodes were sorta vulnerable, standing out in the weather on tripods, with gel type batteries for power, and it was all sorta exposed to the weather, and where the marauding children or the killer bees could easily get at them. (Although under a "first-things-first" approach, I suppose they can worry more about security next year, having proved the system works this year...)

Thanks.
