Certainly check the power supply first. You likely have aging
electrolytic capacitors which may be in stages of first breaking down.
If the supply is also 1998 vintage, likely the electrolytics are on
borrowed time.
Once you have substituted a known good supply, and still have a problem check by passes of electrolytics in the radio around the stage where the symptom is caused. Do try a different and good power source first to isolate the problem to the radio or the power supply. GL, Stuart Rohre K5KVH |
