I would like to see:
<> Max $5K price tag (with entry level about $3.5K)
<> GREAT AUDIO (on both RX and TX)
<> O2-like close in dynamic range RX
<> EASE OF USE
<> Clean TX (IMD and phase noise)
<> Typical Ten-Tec QSK
<> Modular Construction*
<> Decent sized box (about the size of the OM7).
* Bells and whistles to be add-ons. These include Pan-adapter, 2nd RX, ATU,
etc.
This will keep the entry level price way down.
Elecraft has a box a lot like this with the K3, but it has crappy audio and
its software menus are anything but user friendly.
Though it is great for portable and expeditions, it is also a little smaller
than many people would prefer for home use.
Let's face it, most hams now days are older and their eyesight and finger
dexterity is not what it used to be.

But isn't a manufacturer free to start/end manufacturing of a product
whenever they want, for whatever reason they want? Isn't that the "free"

Doesn't Ten-Tec know THEIR business better than we can guess their business?
Perhaps the market could use another 5/6K radio, as long as it had a
significant advantage over the K3. But, to throw out just one idea (and I
have no idea what Ten-Tec is planning - I'm sure they're planning
something), perhaps the market would be much better served by a newly spec'd
radio with a lower initial entry price (and a few hot new features), to
reach many more hams, yet still expandable to that high end 5/6K radio?
