Barry,
Thanks. I just got word that my Corsair has shipped, and I'm sure anxious to
check out it's performance. The TRITON may become my wee-hour, weak signal
DX'er, and the Corsair my week-end, heavy traffic rig. The Corsair is fitted
with the 8-pole 9MHz filter, and all three option filters, so I'm expecting it
will do a credible job of coping with moderate to heavy QRM.

Allen, the Triton and Omni ABCD are exceptionally quiet because they
are single conversion receivers. The Corsair introduced double
conversion with PBT and part of the trade off was a slightly noisier
receiver I'm afraid.

the TRITON IV and put it into service, I was blown away by how quiet the
receiver is. And, it's NB is far more effective than any of my so-called
hi-tech rigs. I'm hoping the Corsair receiver is as quiet as the TRITON's, and
that the NB works as well too. The NB on my TRITON drops an S9 powerline noise
down to S3 without attenuating or distorting desired intelligible signals. It's
one handicap is limited selectivity in heavy QRM conditions, but I'm past my
era of "competitive" hamming and getting tangled up in toe-to-toe pursuit of
rare DX.

haven't yet received the Corsair, so haven't yet been able to check the NB
effectiveness myself. Could this be an early production unit that didn't yet
have a proper nb?
