*           The most likely suspect would be the PA Amplifier. If you can
remove the Big Red Wire going into the PA Cage ( main power amplifier ) and
the Short goes away, you are looking at replacement of the Final
Transistors. Also, there is a Reverse Polarity Diode on the DC Power
Distribution Board that could be Shorted, if someone hooked the Power Leads
up Backwards with no fuse inline. I would look at these two places first.
The DC Board is located beside the PA Amp and hidden pretty well. This
board also has the Main Power Relay. It is a bit of work to get at but, the
DC Board has several plugs which can be removed one at a time until your
Short is located. I would suggest that you place an 1147 or other Car
Taillight Bulb in series with the Power Wire. When you remove the Short,
the bulb will no longer light at full brightness when you turn the radio
on.*
