Come on Al, you may as well wish that Miss America will walk up to you, give
you a kiss and hand you the winning mega-bucks ticket! (hi)

Without using DSP, and maintaining the Corsair's current features, we must
have Xtal filters on two different IF frequencies. This means about 6
filters, just for CW and SSB.
If you want it to operate AM and FM, you need even more filters, driving the
cost even higher and almost doubling the footprint of the radio.

A part that is not a "Potential unobtainable part" - now days would be next
to impossible, other than a simple resistor.

I know, it was only a dream. Like most dreams, it just isn't going to
happen.

QRX, I think Miss America is at my front door . . .

Tec!

It's interesting that this discussion should come up when it did - a local
friend of mine who has owned several of the earlier Omni/Corsair series rigs
said almost the same thing as this thread in a conversation last weekend.

I've for a long time "daydreamed" about the possibility of Corsair level
performance (maybe without some "bells and whistles") in an analog rig,
perhaps with a DDS VFO, of a size range from the Argosy/Argonaut II/Delta II
format up to about the Delta. (Small enough to not take up too much limited
operating desk space but not so small as to have a cramped front panel.)

Another couple of items for the "wish list" would be 1) user serviceable for
reasonably technically proficient owners and 2) avoidance as much as
possible of potentially "unobtanium" parts. This is based on my tendency of
if I like a rig to keep it for a long time. Finally, 3) simple,
straightforward, and easy to use. Give me a knob for a function, not a
multi-layer menu.

Just my $0.02 worth....
