Actually just about any brand new business laptop from Dell or Lenovo has a 
true serial port and you can always boot dos from a floppy.

That's why I still have an old one with W-95. Many older Motorola radios can 
not be programmed with modern computers.
They require true serial ports with slow processors and it becomes ‎becomes 
harder and harder to find old B&W LCD Laptops that run with true DOS.

It's not a USB port that I was using - it's a real serial port. I consider the 
case closed and glad I held on to my old computer ;-)
