[TenTec] OMNI VII with poor audio thru any output

Hi-
        I have an OMNI VII that works fine except that the audio output is very 
“crackley”. No difference with internal speaker, 2 different external speakers 
and the headphones.              Anyone experience the same problem?
                Where can I find a diagram for the audio section? 
                Any ideas?
