That's about what I paid for my battery. ($125)
The charger was about half the price of the battery.
It also depends on the charging capacity of the battery.
I wanted one that would charge my battery quickly.

Yes, a specially controlled charger is needed, but it does NOT need to cost
as much as the battery. A 12.8V 12Ah battery (the capacity Rick
bought) weighs 3.5# and costs $125 from Bioenno Power, and the charger costs
$11.

Like almost any battery type, cost depends on the VAh, but bigger batteries
cost less per Ah than smaller ones. A 12.8V 6Ah battery from the same
company weighs 1.75# and costs $80.
