I have been using the following method for 50 years and not one has failed.
Wrap about 3 turns of food seal, Saran wrap, Seal wrap, etc. around the
splice including about one inch of coax on either side of the connectors. Then
wrap plastic electrical tape around it. You can unwrap it in 20 years and there
will be NO moisture. Silver plated connectors will not be corroded at all.
