This apparent "one way propagation" is quite common here, especially in
the two hours or so before our sunset -- I hear MANY stations from W8,
W9, W4, VE3, even W3, but they don't hear me. W8JI and others have
convinced me that a large part of the reason is the difference in our
noise levels -- stations to the east have more propagated noise. But
I'd be interested to hear from K9LA if there might be other mechanisms
at play.
Yes, propagation as observed here varied significantly from one night to
another, but your signal was nearly always better than I had expected.
