Guy, the problem with using RBN is that it shows a signal's level above the
noise, not their ACTUAL signal strength. So it may give a higher reading,
due to the noise dropping.

The band noise drops noticeably around Sunrise here . . . but whereas 20
years ago the signals GOT STRONGER, now they very rarely do.

By Sunday Sunrise in the CQWW I had pretty much worked every US station I
could hear . . . so I kept tuning up and down the band, to see if any
stations were getting stronger. Nobody did . . . if anything they got weaker
- on the S Meter - although some were just as readable, due to the drop in
band noise at that time.

And I'm talking about Top Band . . . on 80m there is still a very noticeable
peak around Sunrise . . . but propagation is very different on 80m (much
lower angle signals).

Anyway . . . will be on a little later (0000 Z) to see if we can get this
Wednesday Activity Night going . . . and I'll come on much later on too, to
try and have some more Mid-West & West Coast QSOs (even if I've worked you
before!)
