Though the Hawaiian Islands may be the DX black
hole out in the middle of the Pacific, we do not
have to worry about things shrinking in cool temps!
Rust in the humidity and salt air is our problem.
My Christmas wish might be to move to Kure Island,
then even tho hard to work much of the world, much
of the world would be wanting to work me. On the
other hand, I have learned in life to be careful about
wishes. If wanted badly enough, they seem to come
true! Given the lack of facilites at Kure, might not
be such a great idea after all. Kauai is just fine
at Christmas; just now there is a bright Hawaiian sun
and the temperature is 77 with the humidity at 58%,
not bad Holiday weather!

PS: Kure Island was last active in the Fall of 1993
by US Coast Guard members. Now the island is
abandoned and apparently put "off limits" by
the US Fish and Wildlife; the neighbor island,
Midway is also under Fish and Wildlife, but can
be visited as there is one flight a week out there
from Kauai and old dorms in which to stay, but
Kure is not now habitable. Perhaps a DXpedition
some day can get the authority to go.
