On the other hand, if we spend whatever we can afford on antennas, then
renting a crane-equivalent is kinda over the top...


One strong caution -- Even the shorter "snorkle cranes" -- we call them
manlifts around here -- are severely placarded against driving around with
the boom extended except in very specific configurations.  I've seen an
operator lift two wheels off the ground just getting a little outside the
posted limits.

All of this is academic for me, though ... no crane tall enough to reach
the top of my tower can get anywhere down near the base in the back 40 - so
a tram is both practical, safe and essential.
