Rhombics don't have to be terminated. If the far leg is open, it becomes
bi-directional. If you terminate them try 600 to 800 ohms resistive. I had
pretty good luck with mine on both 80 and 40, and it also worked on the
higher bands but with some rather strange lobes. I also experimented with a
travelling wave antenna with 50 ohms pure resistive termination into a
ground field. It worked quite well, but then sometimes you're just dumping
power into the termination. A loop or phased loops would be fairly easy to
construct and should perform well on 6 meters.
