Just a comment about the OFTEN blamed QC.

1. Consumers can NOT afford to purchase items which have been inspected
100%.

2. QC inspection adds no value to any item.

3. Sampling inspection (Ref: MIL-STD-105E, even though cancelled by the
government) used by many mfr's does allow for defective items to go out.

4. If you work in a mfg environment check out the QC role.

5. If anything blame should be placed on mfg processes (that which
asctully produces the item).

As a Quality Assurance Engineer I go through this almost daily and
explain it almost as often. Tom, K5RC, knows of what I speak as he has
been involved in the Quality business for many years and now has his own
consulting company addressing quality.

Profit margins, keepings cost low, lack of pride in workmanship are a few
things leading to defective items. Any mfr SHOULD replace any valid
defective item and pickup any costs incurred by the buyer.
