US Tower (and other crank-up manufacturers as far as I know) uses 7x19
wire rope. Use that size.

Hmm, I'm not sure but I suspect that you want the 'lubricated' type.
Periodic lubrication (twice a year) of crank-up cables adds years of life to
them.
But your initial statement about "one chaffed section" necessitating
cable replacement has me curious. What do you mean by 'chaffed'? Are there
strands broken? Is there obvious damage to the cables? Just because there is
some minor damage or a couple of broken strands doesn't mean it needs
replacing.
