There is no potentiometer used for position sensing. The 2800 has a magnet that
spins as the rotor turns, the magnet generates pulses that are counted and used
for position information by the controller. If the reed relay was bad in the
rotor direction indication going either way would be failing.
I've had similar experiences with my 2800's as described. I found that in one
instance I had a leaky MOV inline that was pulling my CCW motor control line to
ground, thus not all of the needed voltage was getting to the motor to turn the
stack in the CCW position. Is there any lightning protection devices inline?
Take them out to see if there is a difference.
In another instance I have seen the motor control line voltage pulse the two
reed
relay lines coming back to the control box. The result was that the rotor would
turn but the induced voltage from the motor lines confused the pulse signals
coming back to the controller. This in turn made the rotor count wrong and go
to
incorrect positions when commanded.
Lastly, don't hesitate to call M2 on Monday and speak to Wyatt. They will
assist
if at all possible.
