A skilled operator with a back hoe dug my 5 X 5 X 6 deep hole very
precisely. I marked it by removing one course with a shovel. The
contractor brought a dump truck and hauled away the dirt without
dropping it on the lawn. I leveled the bottom with limestone screenings
which level easily and compact easily to make a very good base. I
formed the top to extend it slightly above the ground level, and placed
a skirt of tar paper in the form to prevent any concrete from coming up
around the form. 4 X 4 X 8 will be more difficult; I recommend going to 5 X 5 X 6; it will be more stable than the 4 X 4 X 8 and much easier to dig and safer to work in to place the pads for rebar and tower legs. Think twice, or more, before you go into a deep hole. Plan your escape for when, not if, it collapses. 73 de WOØW k2qmf@juno.com wrote: Hello again All, _______________________________________________ See: http://www.mscomputer.com for "Self Supporting Towers", "Wireless Weather Stations", and lot's more.
