Bob, I have done it with the 3 el SteppIR's. Haven't had a chance to do it yet with the 4 el. Too busy getting it up and working in the real world and and have been out of town for a few days with no modeling program available. Perhaps I was too simplistic with my previous quick reply. There are some problems converting the physical dimensions into the electrical lengths otherwise it is straight forward. The SteppIR is easier than most Yagis since instead of tapered aluminum elements they are a consistant diameter. Trapped antennas and intertwined elements are much more difficult. The other problem (?), once results are obtained say for maximum gain or whichever you wish to optimize, is how to measure it on YOUR tower. However, the data is a good starting point. The folks at Fluid Motion have supplied me with dimensions for several representitive frequencies optimized for gain, front to back, and a middle road compromise. Since they have tested these dimensions on an antenna range it makes for a tempting place to begin. With this information I will model for optimization with a two stack. Ultimately I will test (in a crude manner) for actual patterns. Hope this is some help. 73, Howard..K2HK
Has anybody actually done a modeling profile of the SteppIR yagi antennas? It might be a eye opener to see the modeling results. Bob - AI7M

I am out of town and forgot the exact boom picture. I know I was not very disturbed over the boom specs. I actually got my 2nd 4 el up Sunday but before I had time to tune the pair I had to leave town. I can only say I am extremmely impressed with the top 4 at 75 ft. The lower at 40ft (right now) sounds pretty good also. I need to play with the separation and tune the individual antennas when I get home to see how the stack will work. It's hard to believe that it can only get better. Good luck John. 73, > > Howard..K2HK _________________________________________________________________ Get a FREE computer virus scan online from McAfee. http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 _______________________________________________ See: http://www.mscomputer.com for "Self Supporting Towers", "Wireless Weather Stations", and lot's more.
