Not really.
I used an inverted vee... apex at about 120', and had absolutely no trouble
being heard in Europe... OTOH hearing was a problem that I did not
resolve... no room for beverages. However for casual operation on 160 and a
little DX when conditions were quiet, it was very satisfactory.
Also, I haven't seen any data on arrival angles on 160M... but based on 80M
information, a lot of DX arrives at surprisingly high angles.
I'm also a little nervous about shunt feeding towers... the one time I tried
this, my rotor control box self-destructed in a cloud of smoke the first
time I fired up the amp...
