The TenTECjk 238B matches 5-500ohms...not really much flexibility for an
antenna buff.

So, is the L-Match making a comeback in everyones

it can match from 5 ohms to 3000 ohms where the
other are not that robust.

I'm using plain-ol' Dentrons on everything higher than 3.5 MHz. (some have
had the inductor switch removed). For 160M I use a homebuilt T-network with
big components and a pretty beefy coil. It does everything I could want.
I imagine bandwidth could be a consideration which could depend to some
extent on the antenna and the matching network circuit chosen. I have a
nearly full-sized top-loaded vertical and I dip my SWR on the fly using one
of the capacitors which I went ahead and calibrated by frequency - so one
knob stays put, the other has a scale from 1800 to 1950. The inductor is
fixed hardwired. Works fine.
The L-network saves you a capacitor. That could make a difference.
