My view on the ExtraFlex at the link shown: In the images it appears to
be very much like the old 9913 with the spiral dielectric which gives it
a quasi air core. I had very poor luck with that type of cable due to a
lightning strike. I had waterproofed the connectors carefully, but a
lightning strike blew off all of that weather proofing. 15 minutes
later I had water running right out of the 2-meter rig and onto the
desk. had a lot of 9913 installed at the time and ended up giving away
IIRC about 600 feet of the "good stuff" and throwing out the one run
that had gotten water in it. I replaced all of it with LMR-400. Iast
summer I discovered I had missed about a 60 foot piece of the 9913 when
the solid state amp in the shop started acting strange. When I pulled
the coax out of the conduit and took apart a splice water ran out.
Fortunately it didn't get beyond the splice.
