Grant,
Rope over the house ridge tied to a truck --- I think I know what I am
going to do.
Thanks and 73,

Subject: Re: [TowerTalk] Tilt Up Tower
"near the house" How near? I reinforced the gable studs on one house
to be strong enough for a block and tackle. It lifted 30' of Rohn 25
plus 15' of mast extension with a TH7DX to a house bracket mount. The
hinged base was on a deck 1 floor up to yield 50' agl for the beam. A
strong tree or rope over the house ridge tied to a truck can also
provide a point to tie off a block.
A good lift point on a fixed tower is about 2/3 of the height. Pushing
it up or supporting it lower than 1/3 the height will likely bend or
break something, I've seen this done.
If you don't have a block and tackle rig, sometimes you can rent one at
a tool rental shop. Having had several sailboats, I'm partial to the
ball bearing sailboat blocks, since they are strong, weatherproof, and
have very low friction. Not cheap though!
