Like many guys, I've had bits and pieces of MFJ products around the shack
for many years. I've used many of their products without issue until this
latest problem with their MFJ-998 auto-tuner (which is a superb product BTW)
and any digital circuit can fail. I've had more problems with laptops and
computers than with MFJ products.

They are inexpensive, multi-purpose, and readily available. We could have
been SOL if they hadn't acquired Cushcraft and Hygain, and then there would
be NO parts to repair our old yagis and antennas like many other companies
that are no longer around. Have you tried to buy parts for some of the
older high-end rigs lately? Maybe a CPU or power final transistor? Many
parts are simply no longer available, and the NOS items are dwindling fast.
It's the nature of electronics, especially in boutique segments like ham
radio. Try to buy a part for a laptop, if you can find it, it will cost
more than a new laptop.

My 2 cents and 20 years of using MFJ products. No connection with them,
just user experience.
