I just sunk 3 8 foot copper clad steel rods for an electric fence counterpoise, using the handled fence post driver from local hardware (Lowes, etc). It is a steel pipe thing that has two handles on the sides, and it slides up and down, driving the rod or post with force. I use this tool a lot. Only the last 2 feet requires using a sledge.
