When I was working special effects, we used two general techniques..
One is the "bar clamp" like you use for furniture or picture frames with
a wooden plate on each side. You slide it snug, and then crank a bit on
the handle. It is big enough to slide down past the rim of the bucket
and grips the side.
The other one is a modified version of a vise-grip pliers used by
welders with large "paddle" like things on them that grips whatever you
clamp onto.
There's also a chain visegrip that has a 18" length of chain that you
can wrap around something and then hook and tighten on.
There's a 3/8" baby pin welded on that you clamp your stuff to using
standard theatrical C-stand type clamps.
Google for "grip supplies" and you'll find all manner of stuff.
Another approach is a piece of speedrail or unistrut that is held on
with some ratchet straps. Bring a bunch of wooden wedges so you can
adjust the angles.
Did more than one job with lots of gaffers tape, too.
