In my opinion, I would never use any lube on tower sections where they
join. Read the ROHN on-line manual or even call the company and ask
their opinion. It reduces the strength of the joint, putting most of the
weight on the bolts. I'd much rather use a tower jack to get them apart,
rather than lube the sections. The 25G and 45G both use the friction of
the galvanized joint to add strength. I do use never seize on the
bolts. I use a taper pin punch to enlarge the holes "when necessary" if
the galvanizing prevents the bolts from going in easily. They should be
a snug fit and according to the manual, never screwed in using the
threads to force the bolt in, nor should the bolt holes be reamed.

73 and good luck,

Roger (K8RI)
