About 15 years ago, I put up my first 90 foot
vertical, also made with 4 inch tubing. It
used 4 thirty foot wires sloping down at a
45 degree angle as a top hat, to achieve
resonance approximately at 1830. It was guyed
at the 30, 60 and 90 foot levels. This equal
guying set up resonances and high vibrations
when it was windy. Today, I use a tapered
90 foot vertical (4, 3, and 2 inch diameter)
and I guy at 30, 60, 75 and 90 feet. Same
top hat. This has worked out well for me.
I also use a 30 foot piece of 4 inch tubing
as the falling derrick.

I asked the same thing in a private email and how long the capacity hat
wires were.

Subject: [TowerTalk] falling derrick" method
I used the falling derrick to raise 90Ft of 4 inch irrigation tubing.
The
derrick was 30Ft of 3 inch irrigation tubing. This was done single
handed with
lots of thought and preparation .
I made youtube video , the video is SD
so the quality is not good
enough to see details.
The first half of the video
is pictures showing the preparation..So have
a look if you
like.
