I had a local welding shop make mine, for an old Tri-Ex.
The shop used steel rod and welded each junction.
My understanding is that if there is a gap in a junction, lightning can arc
and cause problems.
I also suggest taking the bottom section of the tower to the welder, so
that the fit will be as close to perfect as possible.
